What Are GPT and FPT?

GPT and FPT are terms that are frequently used in the garment and textile industries. Basically, the GPT term is most commonly used in the garment industry, while the FPT term is most commonly used in the textile industry. We can easily understand GPT and FPT after reading this article.

Each buyer establishes guidelines for what tests are required at the fabric stage and, later, in the garment stage. Buyers send this list of package tests to their designated manufacturers and testing labs. Buyers requested FPT and GPT test reports from their suppliers prior to bulk production for production approval.

Once the garment manufacturer specifies FPT or GPT, the testing lab conducts all tests in accordance with the buyer’s test manual. Garment manufacturers are not required to specify any tests to the testing lab for this package test.

What Is FPT Testing?

FPT is an abbreviation for “Fabric Package Test” or “Fabric Performance Test.” As a result, it is also a very popular word in the textile industry. The term “Fabric Package Test” refers to various types of testing parameters. Fabric testing continues at the textile mill. A textile mill cannot export fabric unless it has been tested. It is the fabric production approval. The test is carried out in accordance with the buyer’s specifications. Fabric tests are primarily determined by the yarn, count, and fibre content of the fabric. If the test fails, it must be resubmitted and approved. The buyer, on the other hand, will not accept any failure report. The FPT test is being performed at an approved testing facility. The following are some common testing parameters.
